Onion (Pyaj) ki Sabji / प्याज की सब्जी / easy and quick to cook

This one is different from any other sabji. The taste is different and delicious. Can be enjoyed with Roti (breads) and Paratha. Quick and easy to make with very less ingredients.

About the Recipe

This one is different from any other sabji. The taste is different and delicious. Can be enjoyed with Roti (breads) and Paratha. Quick and easy to make with very less ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 small onion
  • 3 tomatoes, 3 green chilis, 3 cashew nut
  • 2 tbsp curd (yogurt), 2 tsp fresh cream
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/4 spoon turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp oil

Stepwise Directions

Step 1- peel and wash all onions. Make tomato puree with 3 cashews and slit green chilis.

Step 2 – Roast onions on low flames, flip them from all sides and roast it. After roasting it, let it cool for 2-3 minutes and then remove any black burnt skin.

Step 3 – Take a pan and add 2 tbsp oil, when oil is hot add cumin seeds. Then add roasted onions and fry them on low to medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Slightly brown color will come on onions and they would have been cooked well from inside. At this stage add crushed garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add slit green chilis and then add fresh tomato puree.

Step 4 –  Then add dry spices like, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder and cumin seeds powder. Mix well and let it cook till oil separates. Then add 2 tbsp curd and mix continually. The heat should be very low. After adding curd, cook for another 1 minute and then add salt as per your taste and cook for a minute of two.

Step 5 – In last add 2 tsp fresh cream and cook for 30 seconds. Onion sabji is ready. Serve hot with roti/paratha.
