Besan Ladoo / Dessert Recipe / Gram Flour and Ghee sweet balls

I am making Besan Ladoo today. Besan Ladoo is a popular sweet dish make with gram flour,  sugar or powdered sugar and clarified butter (ghee). Gram flour is roasted in ghee until nutty fragrance. Then sugar or powdered sugar is added. It can be store for long in airtight box.

About the Recipe

I am making Besan Ladoo today. Besan Ladoo is a popular sweet dish make with gram flour,  sugar or powdered sugar and clarified butter (ghee). Gram flour is roasted in ghee until nutty fragrance. Then sugar or powdered sugar is added. It can be store for long in airtight box. 

Ingredients

  • 2 cup gram flour
  • 1/4 cup & 3 tsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Chopped pistachio and almond for decoration

Stepwise Directions

Step 1- Take a pan and add 1/4 cup ghee. Keep the heat on low. Then add 2 cups of gram flour and mix. Keep on stirring gram flour and ghee on low heat. It’s need patience while making Besan Ladoo as we needs to roast gram flour at least 20 to 25 minutes on low heat. 

Step 2 – Keep on roasting on low heat. We added 1/4 cup ghee in starting, so after 15 minutes add 2 tsp ghee and mix. Roast again for 5-7 minutes then add 1 tsp ghee and do final roasting for 5 minutes. Once gram flour turn brown, transfer it to mixing bowl and let it cool down. 

Step 3 – Once roasted gram flour is warm, add green cardamom powder (optional) and powdered sugar. Mix everything well with hand then take a small portion and started to make a round shape with hand. Press gently and form a smooth round ball. Decorate with chopped pistachio and almond on top. Make all sweet balls with same process and keep it aside for 30 minutes to set.

Note  – Do not add too much ghee in starting, add little by little as per my recipe. If too much ghee in gram flour then you will not be able to make ladoos.
